What is the difference between coaching and counseling?
-
Coaching focuses solely on the present and future. Counseling focuses on past, present, and future.
-
Coaching encourages IMMEDIATE action.
-
Coaching is typically short-term. Counseling can be long term, sometimes lasting for years.
-
Counselors treat a DIAGNOSABLE mental health illness. Coaches cannot diagnose or provide clinical treatment for a diagnosable condition.

Experience
Sarah Dobeck Troutman
Since childhood, I knew I would work in the healing profession. This has always been my calling. I have dedicated most of my adult life to learning about the areas of social/emotional/behavioral health for both youth and adults. I have a variety of degrees, certifications, and trainings featured below. I have worked in the human services field for the last 10+ years including inpatient and outpatient treatment, dual-diagnosis, prevention, education, intervention, and advocacy. I live as a person with a mental health disorder, as a family member of someone with severe addiction, and became a widow at the age of 30. This combination of both personal and professional experience combined with my intense passion for helping others has allowed me to become a leader in the social/emotional/behavioral field in our local community.
